At MANE we believe beauty can be much more than skin deep. We’re rethinking the salon space - somewhere where beautiful hair happens but beyond that a hub which positively impacts our community in our own MANE way. Part of this is looking holistically at the impact hair-care can have on self-care. Here are six reasons healthy hair can help a healthy mind. Positive vibes all round!


Routine - A mindful hair routine can help counter stress and anxiety. Building a consistent evening ritual - such as applying ​​KEVIN.MURPHY Young.Again and working it through your hair - can help calm the mind and signal to the body it’s time for sleep. 


Mindfulness - Washing your hair is a great time to practice mindfulness - after all, the bathroom can be our own small sanctuary of peace and quiet. Try this simple breath exercise whilst your conditioner is working: breathe in for a count of four - pause - breathe out for a count of six - pause… repeat.


Focus - Styling your hair can help your mind and body to slow down as you focus on what you’re doing. The key to that happy place is that styling your hair is low stakes, meaning you can go with the flow a little and not worry too much about the consequences (on the reverse that’s why trying to cut your own fringe has the opposite feelings!). When your thoughts focus on simple activities, your brain tends to relax.

Confidence -  When our hair looks and feels good, we tend to feel better about ourselves. It’s important to reframe our feelings of ‘vanity’ to acknowledge it’s self-care.
