2020 has been a big year for MANE and certainly for all of us. There’s been times when we look back and wonder how we did it - and it’s simple because of you.
This year we said goodbye to MANE basin salon where everything started nine years ago (when Kiri was a redhead and Megan’s hair was silver!). A lot of great memories and great hair were created there but it felt the right time to bring everyone together under one roof (just in time for Tarnz’s return from Sri Lanka, which we bet many of you are as glad about as us!). We feel we have a great culture and creative hub at Ghuznee, where we can learn and bounce ideas off each other - it shows in the quality of hair we have created this year and it’s catching on with over 6,000 followers on instagram now watching what we do!
As MANE basin salon shut its doors, MANE’s online store opened. We spotted a real gap for curated hair care delivered directly to your door. We’re still in early stages but we’ve decided to take a more holistic approach to hair health, we’ve just launched quality collagen and protein powders to build strong locks from the inside out and we’ll continue to grow our offerings in 2021.
The environment remained one of our core values and this year we became a certified Sustainable Salon. We’re really proud to say now that 100% of our colour tubes, tin foil and plastic bottles are recycled and our hair clippings are reused in initiatives such as making hair booms for soaking up oil spills. Janine is also working on an exciting new project to reduce colour waste across the industry (we can only presume she doesn’t sleep!)... more on that to come next year.
Lockdown and all the bumps of 2020 highlighted the importance of connection and community, it also reinforced how important hair is to our wellbeing. It showed us what an amazing team we have - the Manies and our clients - and how together we make the salon such a special place.
